VW CamperVan Wedding Hire

FAQ

I don’t have a UK driving licence, can I still hire?
Yes you can, if you contact us first though and I will check with our insurance as there are a few exemptions. Normally within Europe, American, Canada etc you are fine but just check with us. It may be that you need pay a hirer excess/ security deposit.

Insurance cover- can I hire if under 25/ over 75?
If you contact us with your details we will ask our insurance company. Previously it has just meant a higher excess to pay so we would ask for a bigger deposit.

Are the vans easy to drive?
The vans are old vehicles, they do not have power steering, abs brakes or automatic lights etc. The trick is, is to take it easy- there is no rush!  The gear changing experience will make you better at making porridge. As this is what it has often been likened to! Steering porridge/ gear there somewhere!

Can I bring my dog?
Yes you can, there is a charge of £20 to cover extra cleaning -we ask you use a dog crate though when left in the vans, so they don’t scratch the upholstery or wood!  Collapsible dog crates can be hired from us and we provide a bowl, blanket and extension lead.

Can I leave my car with you?
Yes you can, your car can be left with us although this is at your own risk. During your time away we can valet your car for you, please enquire about costs if interested.

Can you pick me up?
Yes, we can collect from Inverness airport or train station. We add a cost to your booking of £10 either way for this to cover fuel. Once a booking has been made with your requests, we will contact you to discuss your travel arrangements, we will do our best to help.

If I come to Moray a day early is there anywhere to stay?
Yes, there are many B&B s in the area, the Old Mill Inn at Brodie is the closest to us and serves a fantastic homemade menu.

Can you cater for special events?
We discuss the booking with the hirer, if you are requiring champagne or a special something as a surprise for a loved one upon collection we can arrange this. We can accept flower deliveries or purchase a special bottle on your request…..most things are doable, and we are happy to do them to make your booking special.

Are campers good for children?
I personally think they are awesome for children, they usually get very excited. One five year old hirer always shouts..there’s Lady Marmalade! They have their own fan club and as a surprise for the wee ones we give a paint your own vw camper van money box or decorate their own gingerbread camper biscuits.

Can I fit a child’s seat?
Yes, the vans have belts that work with baby seats. We also offer the use of a booster seat and a baby seat.

Are there games?
Yes, we have a selection of games- pick up sticks, dominoes, cards & scrabble etc please ask when you pick up the van and you can choose games to take with you.

Is there a DVD player?
In Tallulah -Pip there is a DVD player, this also has a USB port so that films can be transferred  onto a stick if space is an issue. Lady Marmalade doesn’t have a dvd player as she is more original and many families want a space outside for children without distractions. So we offer both options.

What do I do if we break down?
The first thing to do is to call us as it may be something really simple and quirky as the girls have those traits! If a telephone conversation doesn’t get you started or you can’t get in touch, we are covered with the AA. A membership card is in the van and spare supplies, as realistically there are only a few faults old vehicles get.
The vans are fitted with a tracking devise, as we are in rural Scotland it can be difficult to get the exact location when you are 40 miles from the last seen human, so these are fitted to ease this worry…you won’t be stranded!

Can you advise where to go?
We can give you some good suggestions and recommended campsites, pubs, walks and scenery- we include detailed maps in the vans with campsites marked. We also have many leaflets that you can browse through to see if somewhere takes your fancy to start your hobo experience.

Do you have electric hook up?
Not at the moment I’m afraid, Tallulah has a leisure battery to power the DVD player.

Is there heating in the vans?

I’m afraid its thermal socks time, old vechicles didn’t come with such luxuries! A hot chocolate at night soon warms the camper space though. We also supply the vans with a hot water bottle. The heating in them just about thaws a mosquito, so pack warm clothing for evenings.

Do you have fold up table and chairs?
All vans come with chairs- to the number in your party, also a fold up table for outdoor dining.

Can I take the van abroad or to the Islands?
No, we are only covered with our recovery within the mainland UK….This includes Skye but NOT the Islands at the moment – although we are trying to renegotiate this!.

Is there a mileage restriction?
No, although we do monitor the mileage when the vehicle leaves us as this helps us to know usage for replacement parts – we do ask you not to ask too much of the old girls! 100 miles a day max is good if you are planning your trip…
